I mentor teachers with the Education Service Center Region 13 here in Houston, Texas. We recently finished a challenge-based lesson sequence on creating a business/service at two local middle schools. Students reflected on their own life experiences and a community need, to help them decide on a business/service they would like to create. Some students chose retail and restaurant ideas, while others chose services like food pantries, and affordable housing services.
Students stored all of their completed work in iPad folders and added each of the completed items to a Journal in Keynote. The Keynote Journal provided a central location for teachers to check the students’ work. Keynote presentations can also be password protected, making it a little more difficult for students to edit each others’ work on shared devices. Students saved their progress daily in the journal, making it easy for myself and my mentee teachers to check their progress.
I have attached a basic outline of the lesson sequence in the PDF document in this post and a copy of the Keynote CBL journal that we used. Best of luck!

Really interesting Andrew! I like the LaunchPad a lot. Also like the way you built on the CBL by having students think about their interest and then expand that out to a business idea that could help their community. Great approach.
